Programme Overview

The quality of Africa’s digital future will be shaped not just by the private sector — but by the capacity of governments and public institutions to harness technology in service of their citizens. DFA’s Public Sector programme is the continent’s leading capacity-building initiative for government officials and public sector professionals.

Delivered through a modular, institution-tailored model, this programme equips public sector teams with the knowledge, skills, and frameworks needed to lead digital transformation, deliver citizen-facing digital services, and develop evidence-based digital policy. We work directly with ministries, regulatory agencies, local governments, and pan-African institutions.

What You Will Study

MODULE 01

Digital Government & e-Services Delivery

Design and implement citizen-facing digital services. Understand service design principles, digital identity, and inclusion in public service delivery.

MODULE 02

Data-Driven Policy & Evidence-Based Governance

Use data analytics and dashboards to support policy decisions, track programme performance, and communicate outcomes transparently.

MODULE 03

Cybersecurity & Critical Infrastructure Protection

Protect government systems and citizen data. Develop national cybersecurity frameworks aligned to African Union standards.

MODULE 04

AI & Emerging Technology Policy

Develop policy frameworks for regulating and responsibly adopting AI, fintech, and emerging technologies in the public interest.

MODULE 05

Digital Procurement & Vendor Management

Navigate technology procurement, contract management, and build-vs-buy decisions for public sector digital transformation projects.

MODULE 06

Change Management & Digital Leadership

Lead organisational transformation in public institutions. Build digital culture, manage resistance, and communicate the digital vision.
